What’s Been Keeping Me Busy

Most of my time these past couple of months has gone into helping a client in Tucson, Jim Nichols. Jim is a famous (really!) artist that specializes in UFO art. He takes the information from people’s accounts of UFO sightings and encounters and paints what is must have looked like. He has appeared in many publications throughout the world and has been featured on the History Channel and the Today Show. Jim finally decided to put together many of the stories and the paintings into a book and that is when he contacted me. I took his stories and paintings and transformed them into a book. That step alone took several weeks and a lot of collaboration with Jim. I also had to purchase an ISBN, learn how to use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, learn about copyrights, find the best publish-on-demand company, register with the Library of Congress, and upload huge files. At the same time, I’ve been putting together a marketing package and implementing that. This has included building his web site, writing promotional letters, converting a VHS tape to digital format to use for a free bonus, putting together backend products, setting up Google Adwords, writing letters of introduction, building a MySpace, eBay, Etsy, and Squidoo presence, and much more. Whew! I’m getting tired just thinking about it all.

At the same time, I’ve been working on my own product, a home study course for artists on online marketing. That will be ready soon and I’ll write more details then.

Peaceful Birder

Sara’s feeling better

Sara felt a lot better today, both physically and emotionally. She’s been dealing with an infection of her parotid glands and that seems to be slowly getting better. She also got a vicious canker sore that prevents her from even drinking orange juice or eating anything even slightly spicy. Damn, that sounds painful. But her energy level was up higher than it’s been in a while and we drove into Tucson to get some art supplies and ink to print more cards and then got groceries in Green Valley. After getting back home, we got some of her cards together and took them and another painting down to the artist’s co-op where she is the Artist of the Month for March! By the time we finally got back home it was almost 3:30 pm and she still had not had to lay down or take a nap. Amazing!

Sara also felt better emotionally and part of that had to do with our talk this morning about possible causes or aggravators of her pain and health issues. We will by no means neglect the physical causes and cures, but we had a long discussion about mindfulness meditation and how the very act of fighting her ill health and focusing on the negative aspects of it can give it so much more power. I will write more about mindfulness in the weeks to come. After all, I AM the peaceful birder!

Welcome!

Here it is, the new facelift, I hope you like it.

Things continue to be good down here. It still gets rather chilly at night, anywhere from the 20s to 40s at night, but it’s been warmer during the day, usually in the 60s or low 70s.

March is a busy month. I will be adding a calendar soon to help keep track of everything. One of my next posts will talk about my new line of work and how that is going.

Stay tuned!
